Changsha Normal College is the only independently established regular teacher’s training college for preschool education in China，with normal education remaining dominant, pre-school education as the leading role and its specialties in commerce, information and art being coordinated development. Changsha Normal College was established in 1912 originally as “Changsha Normal School”, which was set up by Chairman Mao Zedong’s teacher-Mr. Xu Teli, who was the founder of the education of the People's Republic of China and also an outstanding proletarian revolutionist and educator. At present, it is an institution of higher learning under the direct control of Hunan Provincial Education Department. Authorized by the Hunan province in 2002, it was prepare to build Changsha Vocational College for Preschool Education.And in May,2004, it was formally upgraded to college and the name “Hunan Vocational College of Children Engineering” was adopted. In order to better commemorate Mr. Xu Teli and take advantage of the schooling foundation and advantage, in May12,2005,it is approved as one of“Regular Normal Colleges”by the Ministry of Education and change its name to “Changsha Normal School”(in order to make the people to understand its school level, “Zhuanke ” is added to its name). At present, there are 4 attached departments, which are Hunan Preschool Teacher Training Center, Hunan Preschool Education Academy, Hunan Xu Teli Research Association , Preschool Education Research Magazine. 　The college now consists of 5 departments ,which are the Department of Education, the Department of Music and Dance, the Department of Foreign Language, the Department of Fine Arts and Animation and the Department of Information Engineering, with specialties, such as Preschool Education, Kindergarten Management, English Education, Business English, International Travel, Music Education, Dance Performance, Information Technology Education, Comprehensive Art Education , Flash Designing and Manufacturing, Art Designing, Art Education, Toy Designing and Manufacturing ,Network Technology, E-commerce Technology, Digital Electronic Technology etc. There are over 6000 full-time college students, 1,220 adult students, with 600 pupils in its affiliated elementary school, 500 preschool students in its affiliated kindergarten. There are 280 full-time teachers ,among which over 50 are masters or doctors, over 60 are professors or associate professors. 　The College covers a total area of 500 mu and a floor space of 140,000 square meters.
